Community Health Committee - Meeting Minutes

September 28, 2011 Present: Deena Mosbarger, Brenda, Streif, Tammy Byers, Bridget Schnautz, Ariane Souder, Janice Brooks, Darla Hout, Vickie Simpson, Marie Headlee, Sherry Gibbs, Bob Sellers, Lisa Cash, Angela Wenthe, Gifty Smith, Mason Spitzner, Gretchen Paule Deena Mosbarger called meeting to order at 12:04 pm Introduction of Committee members Illinois Plan for the Local Assessment of Needs Requires health department to conduct community health assessment and develop community health improvement plan every 5 years IPLAN 2007 Results and Successes Reviewed data that measured effectiveness of strategies and interventions developed from IPLAN 2007 Most interventions were successful and improved the countys health outcomes Objectives that did not meet its goals were compared to data at the state level. Where Clay County had slight decreases in certain health outcomes, the state actually showed greater decreases in these health outcomes. Mobilizing for Action through Partnerships and Planning (MAPP) Described MAPP as a strategic approach to community health improvement Framework will guide current IPLAN process Next meeting: Visioning - Wednesday, October 26th 12-1pm For next meeting, please answer the questions below with the following statement in mind: According to the World Health Organization, "Health is a dynamic state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. 1) What are the issues residents feel are important? 2) What are the strengths of our community? 3) What would you like to see the community develop to in 5 to 10 years?
