5. What do you think the white spots revealed in the ferrite structures in DP500 steel?

These white spots are no longer prominent in DP800 steel. Will and how the white spots affect the strength of the steel? Please elaborate your answer. Answer: The white spots are carbides. Formed when quenched of intercritical annealing. They are no longer prominent in DP800 steel because Nb (Niobium) bind the carbides. The white spots will harden the material because it acts as a precipitate and impede dislocation.

6. Explain the role of martensite in contributing to the strength of the alloy. Answer: Martensitik phase is hard because the crystal structure is bct (body centered tetragonal). It is use as the interstitial space of carbon. The existence of martensitik phase can increase the hardness and strength of materials.
