English GDF04: Reading "Reducing Rural Poverty" by Imon Gosh.

Rosa Maria Hello:
de Serrano I am economist from El Salvador ,I work in Economic Analysis office of
2004-06-16 National Treasury. I have read "Reducing Rural Poverty" by Imon Gosh and It
18:31 has been illuminating to me . He has shown how community or local efforts
could finance economic development in India.
In my country many small infraestructure projects (like paved street,
building school and lighting up parks) have been financed with financial aid
from salvadorean migrants. That financial aid is motivated for homesick or
solidarity with their relatives, that is not remittance It is like a
donation.
Remittances were more than $ 2,103 millions in 2003. A considerable
percentage of them are out of bank system. I mean remittances could be funds
to begin community banks in small towns. They could finance crops of poor
farmers (campesinos).Bank system would have complete registration of
remittances inflow.

Thanks.
Rosa María Mendoza de Serrano.
