Asbestos Removal (Friable Asbestos)

The Asbestos Removal course is for anyone who is working with or who intends to work with friable asbestos. The course aims to provide students with knowledge and skills to achieve a high degree of safety consciousness for working in the asbestos removal industry. Also to achieve the best possible protection against the inhalation of asbestos fibres, both for themselves and for others in the vicinity of the removal area. NOTE: The OHS Regulation 2001, clause 13 & 259(2), and Worksafe Australias National Code of Practice and Guidance Notes requires all removal workers to be instructed in the relevant aspects of health hazards, safe working procedures and the wearing and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assessment Outcomes: Successful participants will be issued with a TAFEPLUS Statement. This program is WorkCover recognised and on completion you may be eligible to apply to WorkCover NSW for a Friable Asbestos Licence. Friable Asbestos (AD1-F) Licence: A friable asbestos licence is required to remove, repair or disturb any amount of friable asbestos, such as sprayed limpet, asbestos cloth, millboard and pipe lagging. It also allows the removal of bonded asbestos. Licences cost $2000 (GST free) and are valid for up to two years.
