5.0 Wedding culture in Malaysia There are three main races in Malaysia , Malay , Chinese and Indian .

Different races have their different wedding cultures . In a Malay wedding ,.the first process is merisik . A young man with his family will visit to the potential brides family .They will seek permission and propose for marriage .Meminang is the process to determine dowry and final wedding date .In akad nikah process , it is lead by a kadhi and the gifts are exchanged during this time .The last process is bersanding.It is a chance to have a feast for all celebrate . In a Chinese wedding , they have to choose a date for wedding , settling bridal bed , sending dowry and others before the wedding . The hair combing ceremony which done by elder people also held the night before wedding .Bride and groom are prohibited to meet each other . On the wedding days , groom will go to the bride house and they will meet before playing games with the brides friend .After that , the traditional tea ceremony begins .The couple will proceed to their wedding reception in the evening . In an Indian wedding ,the pre marriage is called Mehendi and Peethi. The bride and groom will have their own ablution in the morning of the wedding .For the Vinayagar Pooja process , the priest will place a talisman on the grooms and brides finger and tie a yellow string around their wrist to keep the evil away . The priest will start the blessings in the commencement of marriage .In the Kanyaadhaana ceremony , brides father will sprinkle sacred water symbolizing the giving away of daughter.The marriage Saree is done by the grooms family to be blessed by the guests . For the Thali ceremony , the groom will tie the thali around the neck of the bride .The last process is the scared fire . Bride and groom will moved around the sacred fire three times . In conclusion , we should maintain these wedding cultures so that our future generation can continue practice it .
