    BUILDING CHILDRENS VOCABULARIES THROUGH CRAFT ACTIVITIES

    ABSTRACT Teaching English for young learners has become a crucial thing in Indonesia nowadays. Since many children begin to learn English from their early age, teachers of English are obliged to be more creative and innovative in teaching English. It is absolutely aimed at creating fun and interesting atmosphere in the classroom so that children will enjoy the process of learning English. One interesting activity that can be applied in creating enjoyable learning atmosphere is crafting. Craft activities which ask the students to make things by their own hands, imagination, and creativity will really help students in retention and restoration of new vocabularies they meet in EFL class. Besides, crafting will increase childrens motivation, since they realize what they learn can be applied and is relevant in any kind of situations. Key point in conducting craft activities is be wellprepared otherwise your EFL class may turn messy and out of control. Keywords: craft activities, young learners, English, vocabulary building
