Claude McKay was born Sept. 15, 1890, in Jamaica. Claude McKay was a Children s Activist, Civil Rights Activists, Author, and a Poet. Claude McKay went to Tuskegee Institute and Kansas State. Claude McKay was a poet and novelist from Jamaica whose Home to Harlem (1928) was the most popular novel written by an American black to that time. After 1922 McKay lived in the Soviet Union, France, Spain, and Morocco. After returning to America in 1934, McKay was attacked by the Communists He died on May 22, 1948
