SAMPOORNA GRAMIN ROJGAR YOJANA y Primary Objective o The primary objective of the Scheme is to provide additional and

supplementary wage employment and thereby provide food security and improve nutritional levels in all rural areas. Secondary Objective o The secondary objective is the creation of durable community, social and economic asets and infrastructural development in rural areas. Open to all rural poor who are in need of wage employment and desire to do manual and unskilled work in and around his village/habitat. The workers are paid minimum wages as stipulated by the state. Beneficiary gets payment of wages partly in cash and partly in food. Gramsevak put notice on the board or advertise about the work, which is to be carried out in the village, and beneficiary who wants employment can join work.

Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY)

The primary objective of the scheme has been to give supplementary wage employment to rural labour, thereby providing food security and improving the nutritional levels in rural areas. The secondary objective of the scheme is the creation of durable community assets and development of rural infrastructure. The district allocation is apportioned in the ratio 20:30:50 among the District Panchayat, Panchayat Unions and Village Panchayats.

During 2007-08, this scheme has been implemented in 19 Districts only since SGRY had already been merged with the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). This scheme comes to an end on 31.03.2008 and the scheme is replaced by National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme with effect from 01.04.2008.
