An allusion is a figure of speech that makes a reference to, or representation of, a place, event, literary work, myth, or work

of art, either directly or by implication.

Anadiplosis is the repetition of the last word of a preceding clause. The word is used at the end of a sentence and then used again at the beginning of the next sentence. Herman Wouk, The Caine Mutiny. antonomasia is a substitution of any epithet or phrase for a proper name, such as "the little corporal" for Napoleon I. The reverse process is also sometimes called antonomasia. "The Fab Four" for The Beatles, "The Iron Lady" for Margaret Thatcher epiphora (and occasionally as antistrophe), is a figure of speech and the counterpart of anaphora. It is the repetition of the same word or words at the end of successive phrases, clauses or sentences. It is an extremely emphatic device because of the emphasis placed on the last word in a phrase or sentence. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. The Apostle Paul, Repetition is the simple repeating of a word, within a sentence or a poetical line, with no particular placement of the words, in order to emphasize. This is such a common literary device that it is almost never even noted as a figure of speech.
