TITLE :
PPSMI NOT GOOD FOR RURAL KIDS

INTRODUCTION
The matter to teach Mathematics and Science in English become an uncomfortable topic amongst the teachers and students of rural schools. When we talk education, it is a deeply emotive issue for all and it may result in impassionate debate among the teachers, students and their parents.

1ST VIEW
Although PPSMI objective is to improve English proficiency among students, but PPSMI is not in the list. This is what A. Samad Said and others been trying to say. The reason is both subjects are technical subjects while English is a language subject. Learning the scientific term in English that we rarely use in our conversation did not improve English in any way.

2ND VIEW
Besides that, lack of facilities in rural area will make their student unable to understand those subjects in English. For example, they do not have an opportunity to attend a tuition classes as their parents unaffordable to pay the fees for the tuition classes.

3RD VIEW
It is possibilities where the students will forget their mother tongue if they learn subjects in English. The education system should prioritize the development of national identity. Bahasa Malaysia has proven to be instrumental and functional in developing the country and its people from the lower level up to tertiary level of education.

4TH VIEW
In addition, PPSMI is not good for rural kids because of mentality reason. They think that learning those subjects is difficult so they feel de-motivated as they become lazy to understand subjects well. Besides that, family background also turns their effort to master the subjects well.

CONCLUSION
In a nutshell, I strongly believed that PPSMI is not good for rural students. The government should implement new education policies that are suitable for both rural and urban kids.
