ABSTRACT This paper aims to inform the people of the different types of animal cruelty commonly observed worldwide

and within the Philippines including animal testing, fur manufacturing, entertainment animals and animal maltreatment. This will be able to enlighten the reader/s of the inconsiderate acts of the people with regards to abusing the life and lifestyle of animals in which it is now being known to the people through technology like videos and pictures of animals maltreatment being uploaded in websites and in social networking sites , thus, may persuade them to act in their own inititative to prevent the practice of such acts and be able to show sympathy to animals as if they are humans.

In lieu of such cruelty in animals, there are laws that can be applied in preventing such to happen domestically and internationally such as State Anti-Cruelty Laws and Companion Animals in the United States and Republic Act No. 8485: The Animal Welfare Act of 1998 in the Philippines, Metropolitan Manila Commission Ordinance No. 82-02, that certain acts of abuses on animals to be enumerated in this paper are punishable under such governing laws. Lastly, as a human being willing to preserve the existence and worth of the animals, I would recommend solutions in preventing animal cruelty through legal basis to be mentioned in this paper.
