Muscles of The Cervical Region

3 groups 1. Superficial muscles: platysma, SCM, Trapezius 2. Hyoid related muscles supra & infra hyoid 3. Cervical vertebral muscles ant., lat. & post.

Platysma
muscle of facial expression Sup. Attachment: inf. border of mandible & ?? Inf. attachment: delto-pectoral deep fascia Innervation: cervical branch of VII Actions: draws mouth corners inf. draws skin of the neck sup.

Sternocleidomastoid
Origin: Manubriun (sternal head) med.1/3 of clavicle (c. head) Insertion: Mastoid process of temporal & ??? Innervation: spinal part of XI Action: single: turns head superolaterally to opposite side Both: flex the neck
Key m. because it divides anterolat. aspect of Neck

Trapezius Muscle
Origin: med. 1/3 of sup. Nuchal line EOP nuchal lig. spinous processes (C7-T12) Insertion: Lat. 1/3 of clavicle acromion spine of scapula Innervation: ?? Actions: 3 actions?
