Caruso Initial Proposal: Concept and Research My concept so far is to write about the Mayan predictions for 2012. I plan to create a story in which there are two main characters that have different views and thoughts about what truly is fore sought to happen. The focus will be on the difference between the reality of the myths and the exaggeration that Hollywood has presented to people. I may possibly want to incorporate some time traveling into the story somehow, and idea that has been brought up is that the character could travel back to the when Jesus was alive, so that it can include the spiritual concept, of how the end of the world is unpredictable. The story will take place in the current year, and shall focus on how people react as the year approaches an end and time gets closer to 12/21/12. Im not quite sure if there is a main historical event, but a main point of research will be the Mayan ancient civilization. Points of inquiry include: Mayans, Mayan apocalypse, Mayan Calendar, 2012 frenzy, religious view on the end of the world. Towards the end of the story line, actual events predict shall be included and the main character will stop the world from ending. His knowledge of the truth will allow him to prevent people from causing their own destruction. As possible sources of research I may look at previous Hollywood films and novels unfolding the mysterious that the ancient civilization left behind. The story line itself shall hopefully by action packed but still teach the audiences about the truth.
