102 22 February 2012 Essay Response A Case of Assisted Suicide Jack Kevorkians A Case of Assisted Suicide discusses how a woman named Janet wants to end her life because she has been diagnosed with Alzheimers disease. Although some feel that it would be better to do so than to live with the complications of becoming older, assisted suicide should not be an alternative. Janet feels she should not have to put her family through the torture of dealing with such a tragic disease. After searching for a doctor to comply with her actions, Kevorkian agrees to perform the task. When trying to locate a decent place to perform the suicide, Kevorkian explains that he planned to assist a suffering patient to commit suicide (319). Almost all the individuals he meets with are not accepting the idea of an assisted suicide occurring at their business because of public relation matters. Unable to locate a place for the suicide to occur, Kevorkian states that he would have to perform the task from his 1968 camper and a suitable campground (319). Kevorkian performs the assisted suicide with the compliance of Janet. Even though Kevorkian helps Janet perform her suicide, it should not be available for people to make the choice of ending their life. Word Count: 208
