NURSING CONSIDERATIONS

y Inhibits the enzyme carbonic anhydrase. This action decreases aqueous humor formation in the eye, IOP, and hydrogen ion secretion by retinal tubule cells, and increases sodium, potassium, bicarbonate and water excretion by the kidney, causing a dieutic effect.
