EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW This document discusses the availability of web enabled client/server ADI functionality in 11i and in R12. Migrations considerations and functional differences between the client/server and web versions are given as well. INTRODUCTION Client/Server ADI is not compatible with R12. R12 migrates ADI functionality to the Internet Computing Architecture (ICA) so the client/server version is no longer needed. The centrally deployed R12 version reduces total cost of ownership and increases performance over slow network connections. Rather than releasing all desktop functionality within its own separate product, ADI functionality in R12 and in 11i exists within the relevant parent applications. So web enabled Report Wizard, Analysis Wizard, Journal Wizard and Budget Wizard functionally are found in General Ledger; Asset Wizard and Physical Inventory Wizard are found in the Assets Application. Report Manager contains the Web enabled versions of Publish to Database and Report Manager Tools functionality formerly found in Request Center. The web enabled versions of client/server functionality currently available in 11i are noted in this document. Patches will be provided that fill functional gaps in 11i soon after the R12 release so 11i customers can migrate to the web. Although the current version of client/server ADI (7.2) is the terminal release ( i.e. development on new features is no longer taking place), it will be supported on 11i until all of its major features are migrated to the web on the 11i release. JOURNAL WIZARD Availability In 12, Journal Wizard functionality can be found as a General Ledger Menu option. (N) Journals -> Launch Journal Wizard. In 11i Journal Wizard functionality can be found as a Desktop Integration menu option. (N) Desktop Integration -> Create Document -> General Ledger Journals Integrator. Functional Differences List of values are provided for Descriptive Flex fields (DFFs) and values uploaded to DFF columns are validated in the web version. All values for DFF fields are entered into a single concatenated column in the web version (with segment separators), where in Client/Server ADI, each DFF segment is entered into a separate Excel column, but LOVs nor validation is provided. Data from text files can be imported into the Journal worksheet in the web version. Pre-defined layouts that determine the inclusion and placement of fields can be saved centrally, reused and shared in the web version. Unlike ADI, where Journal Wizard Users have access to all fields, users can be prevented from using certain Journal layouts on the web. Default values can be set for fields on the web. So a field with a default value will automatically be populated when the spreadsheet is created. Use standard Oracle Applications Security to grant users access to the Journal Wizard on the web. In 12, spreadsheet fields can be hidden and be set to read only. Filters can be automatically applied to columns in the lines region. Multiple headers can be defined for a worksheet, so you could have two blocks of header fields side by side in the worksheet; in C/S ADI, only one block of header fields could be defined. These additional features are not available on 11i. The following Journal Wizard profile options are not used by the web version: GLDI: Journal Wizard Privileges used to regulate the usage of the Journal Wizard. The options were to revoke access to Journal Wizard, allow a user just to create a sheet, allow a user to create a sheet and upload, and allow a user to create a sheet upload and submit the journal import program. On the web, complete access to the integrator can be granted or revoked using form function security. BUDGET WIZARD Availability In Release 12, Budget Wizard functionality can be found as a General Ledger Menu option. (N) Budgets -> Launch Budget Wizard. The web version of Budget Wizard is not currently available on 11i. A General Ledger patch will be released that will provide this functionality. Functional Differences Periods for different budget years will not span across the worksheet in the web version. The Budget year will appear as a separate column in the worksheet. Number of accounts and whether or not the budget is updatable is not displayed before the worksheet is opened on the web. Providing this ability was not suitable

in the new HTML page flow. The set characteristics function is not available on the web because it was technically unfeasible. The following profile options are not used in the web version: GLDI: Budget Wizard Privileges Access to all Budget Wizard functionality is either granted or revoked using form function security in the web version. GLDI: Enforce Budget Wizard Segment Security Segment security is always enforced on the web version GLDI: Force Full Validation (optional) A system administrator can force full validation on the web by updating the form function that grants access to the Budget Wizard. REPORT WIZARD Availability Report Wizard will not be included in the base release of 12, but will be released as a separate General Ledger patch when R12 is released. It will be accessible through the General Ledger menu. An 11i General Ledger patch will be released shortly after 12 is released. Functional Differences The profile option, GLDI: Report Wizard Privileges, is not used in the web version. Access to all Report Wizard functionality is either granted or revoked using Oracle Applications form function security in the web version. ANALYSIS WIZARD Availability Analysis Wizard will not be included in the base release of 12, but will be released as a separate General Ledger patch when 12 is released. Analysis Wizard functionality will be accessible through FSG reports generated by Report Manager. After clicking on an amount, users will be prompted to select an effective range if more than one is defined for the amount. After selecting the effective range, they are taken to the General Ledger Account Inquiry pages, with the account range prepopulated with the effective range. An 11i General Ledger patch providing web enabled Analysis Wizard functionality will be released shortly after 12 is released. Functional Differences Web users can only perform drills on a single effective range. The following profile options are not used in R12:

GLDI: Allow Drilldown Across Books Since one effective range can be displayed during drill, it is not possible to drill across different sets of books in the web version. GLDI: Analysis Wizard Privileges Access to all GLDI: Maximum Effective Ranges Not needed because only one range can be drilled upon at a time in the web version. ACCOUNT HIERARCHY EDITOR Availability The web version of the Account Hierarchy Editor was first shipped by General Ledger in 11.5.7 and will be available in 12. (N) Setup -> Accounts ->Manager. Functional Differences The profile option, GLDI: AHE Privileges is not used in the web version. Access to the Account Hierarchy Manager in the web version is governed by form function security. PHYSICAL INVENTORY WIZARD Availability The web version of the Physical Inventory Wizard was first released on 11i by the Assets team in Financials Family Pack G. It will be available in 12 as well (N) Physical Inventory -> Integrator. Functional Differences Unlike C/S ADI, where the Physical Inventory Wizard users have access to all fields, users can be prevented from using certain layouts in the web version. Use standard Oracle Applications Security to grant users access to the Physical Inventory spreadsheet in the web version. ASSET WIZARD Availability The web version of the Asset Wizard was first released on 11i by the Assets team in Financials Family Pack G. It will also be available in release 12. Functional Differences Unlike C/S ADI, where the Assets Wizard users have access to all fields, users can be prevented from using certain layouts in the web version. The profile option, FADI: Create Asset Wizard Privileges is no longer used. Use standard Oracle Applications Security to grant users access to the Assets spreadsheet in the web version. REQUEST CENTER Availability The ability to monitor a request on the web can be done through (N) System Administrator -> Requests -> View in forms, or through (N) System Administration -> Monitor Requests in Self Service. These capabilities are available in 11i and will be available in 12. The ability to publish formatted standard, variable and FSG reports to PDF, HTML and Excel can now be done through the request submission screens. (N) System Administrator -> Requests -> Run. See Chapter 2 in the Oracle Applications Users Guide for more information. The ability to publish standard, variable and FSG reports to the Self Service Home Page is handled through Report Manager in 11i and 12. New Report Manager HTML screens in 11i (FRM.H) and R12 allow the publishing of standard, variable and FSG reports to the self service home page (with formatting). See Metalink note 378338.1 for more information. Client/server Request Center is no longer needed to do this. Functional Differences Although you can publish a report with a content set in the web version, it is not possible to publish that report to a workbook that contains multiple worksheets one for every expansion value. When publishing to the Self Service Home with the web version, an FSG submission with a content set will produce a report for every expansion value, however, a user must first view each report in HTML and then export each report to Excel. In the web version, lists of values of type Pair and Special are not provided when submitting and publishing a Standard or Variable format report to the Self Service Home Page. Report manager will display a system error if a user attempts to publish a report that uses these types of value sets for its parameters. A workaround is to submit these reports as part of a request set within Applications and then publish the set to the Self Service Home Page with Report Manager. See Metalink note

378338.1 for information on publishing report and request sets to the Self Service home page. XSL-FO templates replace theme functionality in client/server ADI. In the web version, templates are defined for a specific FSG report. Unlike themes client/server ADI, the same template cannot be used across multiple FSGs. Report Manager provides the ability to create XSL-FO templates for FSG reports in Excel. Report Manager eases the process of creating an XSL-FO template for an FSG by automatically creating a template that includes row and column elements from the FSG definition. See Metalink note 378338.1 for information. In addition, XML Publisher can be used to create XSL-FO templates. An additional capability of publishing a report to PDF exists in the web version. MIGRATION CONSIDERATIONS Migrate Your Saved Spreadsheets You only have to migrate the spreadsheets that require a connection to the database (list of values and upload). Spreadsheets created with client/server ADI will not work with web versions. Client/server spreadsheets must be regenerated using the new web architecture. Data can be moved from the old templates to the new ones using Excel functionality (copy/paste, macros, formulas) 11i sites can continue to use client/server ADI as they migrate users to the web versions. Spreadsheets created with 11i web versions will not be capable of interacting with the applications database in 12. Excel formulas, macros and copy/paste functionally can be used to move data from existing spreadsheets to those generated with 12. Create XSL-FO Templates Some of the standard and variable reports are shipped with XSL-FO templates so creating your own may not be necessary. In addition, a generic XSL-FO template is shipped by the General Ledger team that can be applied to all FSG reports. You cannot update this template; if you wish to change the formatting of an FSG report, a new XSL-FO template must be created for that specific report. Use the XML Publisher Administrator responsibility to create XSL-FO templates for the reports you want to publish to the Personal Home Page, HTML, PDF or Excel. See the Oracle XML Publisher Users Guide for more information. In addition, you can easily create XSL-FO templates in Excel for FSG reports using Report Managers Template Editor. See Metalink note 378338.1 for more information on Report Manager. Set Up Request Sets If you are currently submitting variable and fixed format reports to the Self Service Home page with Request Center, then you will need to assure that the concurrent program definitions for these reports have an output type of XML. Rather than changing seeded concurrent report definition, you can copy it and change the output type of the new concurrent program to XML. Note the application short name of the new concurrent program because you will need this to register the report as a data

definition in XML Publisher. Next, register each report as a data definition within XML Publisher and make sure at least one XSL-FO template is defined for the report (template provides formatting instructions). Once this is done, place these reports in a request set. See the Oracle System Administrators users guide and the XML Publishers Users Guide for more information on this process. When you want to publish variable or standard reports to the Self Service home page, navigate to the request set submission screen in forms and submit the request set. Once the requests have finished, navigate to the Publish Report Sets form function in self service and publish the report output to the Self Service home page.
