KLEENEZE MAKES FOR MERRY MONTH

Ever wonder why they call it the merry month of May? Is it because this is the time that were gently woken up by the sun pouring in the window and the melodic chirping of birds in the trees? Or maybe its because warmer weather has at long last arrived, trees and flowers have started to blossom and joy and hope is renewed after a long winter? Is it heck!! May is merry for one reason only and thats because its the month of Kleenezes greatest event one that promises more energy, more excitement and more thrills than ever before. It is, of course, the Kleeneze Summer Showcase and if we sound over-excited about it, thats because we are. Not that we need a reason to be animated about the prospect of spending the day with hundreds of equally animated people, but well give you some anyway:

destination is finally announced. And this one is going to bring some real cheers of excitement to the arena trust us! Weve got goose bumps just thinking about it.

Learning that anyone can make a success of this business

Weve got some fantastic Network speakers lined up for this Showcase. Between them, theyve spent an impressive 59 years in Kleeneze so have more than enough experience of this business to go around. Gavin Scott, John Stephen, Peter Wellock and Rob Forster are huge successes in their own right, but theyre also some of the most down-to-earth people we know. We cant wait to hear what they have to say.

Hearing from an industry pioneer

Next week sees Kleenezes 86th anniversary, so it seems fitting that we are welcoming someone to the Kleeneze Blackpool revealed Without a doubt, this is one of our favourite parts of stage who changed the face of our company back in the Showcase. After all the whooping, cheering, the 60s. Now the Director of the Direct Selling clapping and downright rowdiness, its amazing when Association, Richard Berry was brought in as a the whole arena becomes utterly silent only to erupt when the CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE

Rewards, prizes and recognition

We can pretend that its better to give than to receive, but lets face it, we all love getting stuff and luckily Kleeneze loves to give it! This years recognition ceremony is going to be truly spectacular, as we have one of the most famous names in athletics hosting it.

Letting everyone know why were excited about being in Kleeneze

Once you get into this business, its hard not to bang on about how great it is all the time. Luckily, in EWB Towers, we get to do this on a regular basis; however, if you really want people to know how their lives can change, the Showcase is the place to bring them. Make sure you book your FREE tickets in good time (see below for details).

Being the first to hear the news and receive the catalogues
Ok, ok, we know this point is about getting stuff again what can we say - its a weakness! But, theres something very satisfactory about Showcases for being the first to get the news before anyone else. Then, our voucher offers mean that well be the first to get the new Christmas Catalogues when they come out, plus we get to bag some amazing offers from DVDs to liquorice. Its like Christmas without the hassle! Yes, raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens are all very well and good, but the Kleeneze Showcase is without a doubt our favourite thing. Well see you there!

Inspiring Ireland
As we walk away from the NIA arena, full of inspiration, motivation and a little goody bag to boot we wont be disheartened that its all over. Well just be excited that its happening all over again on 16 May in Dublin at Kleeneze Ireland Summer Showcase. Kleeneze Ireland can look forward to performances from the two highest earners in the whole business Bob Webb and Gavin Scott, Michael Khatkar revealed to us. These are two Distributors who set the foundation for this business and still are hugely instrumental for growth in Ireland and the UK. I truly believe that this particular Showcase in Dublin is going to set the tone and be the catalyst that inspires more of the Irish Network than ever to qualify for the Autumn Destination. Were also looking forward to testimonials from Tim Murphy, Belinda Wallace and Martina McGrath on the day. Over the past couple of years, the Irish Showcases have been consistently growing and were expecting our biggest turn-out to date on 16 May. Make sure you join us for another spectacular Kleeneze event! Kleeneze Ireland Summer Showcase takes place on Saturday 16 May at the Radisson SAS hotel, Dublin Airport. Doors open at 11am for a 12 noon start and tickets are just 5 per Distributor. Be there!!!!

As your PR partner, SASS will be present at the May conference at the NIA and is very keen to tap into and promote the opportunities Kleeneze presents to those facing redundancy. SASS is therefore keen to talk to those distributors who have been affected by the current recession and have turned to Kleeneze to take control of their finances. Talking about your own experience may encourage others to investigate the Kleeneze business opportunity and help drive new enquiries, so if you think this sounds like you or somebody in your team, then please speak to either Rachel or Cerys at SASS on the concourse on May 9th. SASS is here to help raise the profile of your business in your local area and to help you get involved in PR, which could result in new telephone and web enquiries and new team members for you. Talk to SASS about any major business achievements, charity work or community initiatives you may have been involved in and the team will then review and let you know whether they think it will make the news.

ENTERPRIZE WEEKLY BULLETIN Issue 17 01.05.09

Its been just five months since Mike and Jean Day took the Distributor of the Year title on the NIA stage at the Kleeneze New Year Showcase. Since then, the couple have sailed the seas of the Caribbean, staying in the plush ship owners cabin and watched as their business has boomed off the back of the recession. Have you noticed the recession having an effect on your business? Jean: Yes. Recruiting is really good and theres such a good calibre of people. We started a guy earlier this year who has his own business and owns properties too. He made 250 just on his first two drops. Hes a person that you just love being in your business. He doesnt mind getting his hands dirty at all. Hes got a villa in Portugal and his business wasnt doing well, but he said Im not going to scrimp on the luxuries and joined to pay for a holiday! What do you mean by good calibre? Jean: For instance, one of our prospects recently was a property developer who is now stuck with 25 houses and cant sell them. These guys have lost the money and really want to make it back. They want to work for it. Theyre not scared of hard work. The ones who stick in this business are the ones who get the foundations right and can teach other people to do the same. With all the news of redundancies in the press at the moment, it must be taking you back to how you started in Kleeneze. Mike: I worked for 40 years in the printing industry as a colour retoucher. I just didnt see redundancy coming. I thought Id be there until retirement. You think youre going to get another job. You even start looking at franchisesBut its a lot of money to start up and you dont get anything back really for the first two years. The thought of not making any money until I turned 58 sent me into panic situation! Jean: At the same time, Jackie [White] showed us her cheque for 7k. Before that shed sent us videos and information, but we just werent interested because we were both in good jobs. Its all about timing and circumstance. In Mikes case it was a bit like, well, what do you have to lose? And, although I was still working, later I was made redundant too. Mike: Around that time, Jackie asked us to come to the January Showcase. It was a miserable, cold day and we were really halfhearted about it, but it there that we finally got it; realised what Kleeneze was all about.

ALL IN A DA

Jean, you come from a direct sales background. Do you think that helped you get your Kleeneze business up and running so quickly? Jean: Ive been in direct sales for 25 years, from party plan to corporate. At the time I was made redundant I was on 40,000 a year, so even though I was on Mikes Distributorship, I wasnt really on board. To be honest, my sales background proved to be a bit of a hindrance to begin with. In my hard sell days, youd go see a transport manager to sell him a car and youd have to be dead hard and dead pushy. If I went to see a housewife, who wants to earn an extra 400 per month, Id put her off! I had to be careful. I learnt how to identify with people and relate to them. With Kleeneze, its more about planting seeds with your prospect. Do that, get them to the Showcase and then it will all come together. Mike: I found sponsoring very difficult to begin with. Because Jean was used to the appointments, shed go in and do all the talking, Id end up talking to the guy or girl not wanting to talk because Jean was overdoing it! Their ears would prick up though when I would tell my story of redundancy and how I got into Kleeneze. Jean and I were like good cop, bad cop! Jean: Thats why we do our appointments together. Weve got a really good rapport. Try to go on your appointments together, because it carries more weight, you can pick up on who the person responds to. Its our strength for appointments. They say that anyone can succeed in this business. Is that really true? Jean: Yes and no. Youve got to self-develop to succeed. Anybody can do the retailing. Anyone can earn 1,000 in the first month. We proved it with Mark James (Senior Distributor). However, when it comes to the sponsoring and the learning of the business, youve got to develop the belief in yourself and the confidence, as well as learn to mix with different people. How important is sponsoring to becoming a success? Jean: I think you can make good money through retailing. Marie and

AYS WORK
Jeremy Simmonds, our top retailers, retail about 5000 a month, earning around 2.5k. Mike: A lot of people come on board thinking theyll never sponsor but they change. Especially nowadays when everyone knows someone whos been made redundant, its much easier. For us the one that always stands out is Harry Hancock, the farmer. When he joined he really didnt want to sponsor and wanted to stick to retailing. Then he was talking to his accountant and his accountant asked about Kleeneze and hearing about it, said oh that sounds like something my wife could do. And thats when it clicked for Harry just how easy the sponsoring side could be. That just goes to show how simply telling your story can sell the business. Does your own story help you? Jean: Now, of course, our story helps so much in recruiting, as we were made redundant too, but before we just used to use other peoples stories. You can always find a story thats significant and we teach our team to tell the stories that are relevant to the person theyre going to see. Does anyone ever come into the business with unrealistic impressions of how fast and how much they can earn? Mike: Some people think its all just about getting people to join, but they dont think about supporting them. Its not the number of people you get in its no good bringing five people in a month and not supporting them. Sometimes when new people start to sponsor they think they should bring in the same amount of people in every month. There has to be a bit of a slowdown though while you support the first few, then you can move on. That support is such an important part of your business. Jean: People join to earn money, so if you support them and get them to that 10% or 13% in the first four weeks, theyll stay. And thats easily achievable. Youve done amazingly well. Winning Distributor of the Year must have been the cherry on the cake for you. Jean: You cant even explain how you feel. Youre sitting there thinking and then suddenly you hear Patrick Jolly say your name. It was surreal. It was unbelievable. It was the ultimate like a BAFTA! Its such power to keep it in the group, as well. For us the magic moment had to be when they surprised us at our meeting the weekend after and showed all the highlights of our seven year journey. We didnt have a clue that was going to happen. The morale of the team is buzzing now. The whole group is buzzing. What are you looking forward to now? Jean: What were really looking forward to is the business growing bigger. We can see that already from the start and we want to get our people out there, because theyre the next generation. Weve got some really good people coming through and were excited for them because we can see their future. It is the right time for them to grow.

When Jean and Mike Day were announced as Distributor of the Year it came as no surprise to any of us in their team. They run fantastic trainings, have an incredible work ethic and make being part of this business so much fun. They have inspired so many of us over the years and it was wonderful to see them being recognised by the company. After the Showcase, the team secretly planned how we could celebrate together in recognition of their achievement. So, we organised a slide show comprising of music and photos of Jean, Mike and the Focus Group from over the years to show at the key meeting. It was an amazing journey to watch, seeing all the places in the world they have visited not only on their own but with many of their team. Needless to say, Jean didnt stop weeping from beginning to end! John and Karina Beesley, Bronze Senior Executive Distributors

FROM BLACKPOOL TO CAPE TOWN

At the end of March, EWB asked for Distributors who would be happy for us to follow them (in a non-stalker like way, you understand) through the qualification period for the Autumn and Spring Destinations. No word of a lie, we were inundated with replies. Were at a loss to know who ISNT going all out to qualify for our Destinations! Unfortunately, we couldnt track you all though! Our new column will follow our Cape(d) Crusaders activity as they make their way through qualification to the Autumn Destination 2009 and Spring Destination 2010. So, without further ado wed like to introduce our Kleeneze Cape(d) Crusaders! What are you planning on doing differently to a normal time of year that will help you qualify? We have massively increased both retail and the sponsoring as we want our business to come out the other side of the qualification period with a very stable Gold business. By increasing the sponsoring, we may even find a new team member who wants to grow their business and qualify next year! CAPE(D) CRUSADERS: Andrew Shaw and Ricardo Ferreira LOCATION: Southampton STATUS: Silver Distributors ROUTE: Hit Gold Distributor level for one Period, and hold it for a further two consecutive Periods - 3 in total What were your reasons for joining Kleeneze? We joined on October 1, 2008 just to make a few extra hundred pounds so we could have some lifestyle money. We were already customers of Kleeneze, so when we saw a leaflet in our pack of catalogues from our Distributors, we arranged an appointment to find out more! I work for B&Q as a Service Manager and Ricardo works for M&S, so we have to work hard in our full time jobs, but what better hobby to have than earning extra money?! What are your goals for your business? After meeting so many great people that are in the business over the first few months, we saw that there was much more to this business than just putting catalogues out. We realised we could make a really exciting future for ourselves. Our plan long-term is build our Kleeneze business big enough so we can sack our bosses and become self employed and have control of our own future without relying on the corporate world. The first step of getting truly motivated was to aim our sights high and try and qualify for the Autumn Destination by building a team as quickly as we can around working full time. How do you plan to fit it all in around working full-time as well will you be doing anything different in order to qualify? Activity - activity - activity. Retailing - advertising - sponsoring supporting and growing our small team as quickly as we can. Were going to fit it in with hard work, patience, planning and true determination! Sometimes we drop our customer base before work at 5am to make sure we get to our customers every four weeks! Are you finding it hard to qualify for somewhere, when you dont know where it is? We think this is even more exciting, as actually regardless of where it is we know we will be treated like royalty and will have earned a trip anywhere in the world for free! Are you excited about the reveal of the Destination on 9 May? Oooooh yes! We WILL be qualifying!!

Autumn Destination 2009 Blackpool

CAPE(D) CRUSADERS: Sharon Waters and Dave Allsop LOCATION: Derbyshire STATUS: Silver Distributors ROUTE: Hit Gold Distributor level for one Period, and hold it for a further two consecutive Periods - 3 in total How long have you been with Kleeneze and why did you join? We joined in August 2008, as we had got engaged in April and had planned to have a big wedding. When Daves employer cut everyones hours and threatened redundancy, we realised we needed to make some extra cash to cover the wedding bills (and all the other ones that crop up!). After hearing how Kleeneze works and realising that we could fit it around our full time jobs we decided to give it a go. We are very thankful that we did as Dave has now been made redundant and is working full time on the business. When and why did you decide you were going to try and qualify for Blackpool? We decided to go for Blackpool after everyone in the Golden Bears had come back from Vienna and we heard how amazing it was. So we decided we were going to do what ever it took to qualify for thenext one as it would be an amazing opportunity to mix with the top people in Kleeneze and find out just how they had become so successful. Is it difficult to focus on qualifying for something when you dont know where it will be? Given the track record of destinations we don't find it difficult at all to is as we know it will be great even if it is Blackpool! We cant wait until the reveal of the Destination on 9 May we know it will give us even more focus than we already have. Plus Dave will know whether he needs to invest in a new pair of speedos or thermals!

take consistently throughout the year that will determine who gets the tickets for Cape Town. CAPE(D) CRUSADERS: Steve Geldard and Cathy Brookes LOCATION: Sunderland STATUS: Silver Executive Distributors ROUTE: Hit highest 2008 pin level and hold for 3 Periods with 15% growth When did you start up with Kleeneze? I joined Kleeneze in 1995. Id spend five years at university completing a degree in teaching only to find out that my first years teaching salary of 850 per month wasnt enough to even cover my bills, let alone 29,000 of debt I had accumulated while studying. Two years after joining, I split up with my partner and became a single dad so my needs changed massively. I needed the flexibility and the income to spend time with my two girls, so getting out of my stressful teaching job became my focus. I achieved Bronze Executive and with a cheque of around 3,000 per month was finally able to do this. The next few years I spent precious, valuable time with my children and Kleeneze fulfilled all of my needs including being able to send my daughters, Emily and Kate, to an excellent private school, the best in the area. No amount of money in the world could have replaced that time with the girls - it's priceless. In due course I met Cathy through Kleeneze and now, after 13 years in the business, our time has come to move on massively, we're hungry for the success we could have had in the previous years. You were very recently on Club Med 2 tell us about that Qualifying for Club Med 2 was just the start. It was such an inspiration to be able to spend time with the top achievers and the friends we've made over the years and, of course, new friends as well. The best thing about Conferences is the fantastic people there and being treated like VIPs! A just reward for all the hard work! Whats your next step in the business? Our next goal is to qualify for Cape town and move up the plan with some of our team - we don't want to go on another Conference without some of them, it just seems to make it a much richer experience, and I know some of them are inspired by it. We're on the way to Gold SED and winning the Mini and BMW. It's become a burning desire which we are now totally focussed on. We remind ourselves of it by focusing on it, visualising it and feeling it every day and of course working harder than ever before!

Spring Destination 2010 Cape Town

CAPE(D) CRUSADERS: Steve and Debbie Roper LOCATION: Essex STATUS: Bronze Senior Executive Distributors ROUTE: Hold five-wide status for 5 Periods with positive growth How long have you been with Kleeneze and why did you join? We joined Kleeneze in July 1999 after Steve was made redundant from his job as Sales Manager at an Engineering company. Having never been out of work previously and having always wanted our own business we were determined to use the enforced unemployment as the catalyst to start our own business. We thoroughly researched the business opportunities market and soon realised that Kleeneze was in a class by itself. Within a few weeks of getting started, a previous employer invited Steve to go back and work for them which he did, content in the knowledge that we could build our Kleeneze business part-time and then make Steves employer redundant! Youve been on Conferences before what is it about them that makes people want to qualify? The conferences mean different things to different people and for us they are a very visible sign of the team achieving growth in the business which we hope will inspire others to grow their businesses too. They are a terrific opportunity to see the world, in style, with a whole bunch of motivated, positive, successful friends and colleagues who all make the very best of travelling companions! How did you feel when Cape Town was announced as the Destination in January? Cape Town has certainly fired up a number of people in our Infinity Group and really lit our fire too. We were with Kleeneze in South Africa in 2004, which was absolutely out of this world, so going back to South Africa and Cape Town accompanied by go-getters within our own team is going to be magic! How are you ensuring that you stay on track each and every day? To really stay focussed on our goals on a constant basis, we both have our own goal boards, which are a constant reminder of why we are building the business and a reminder of just what is available, given enough drive and determination. Watching the Cape Town DVD is a brilliant way to motivate anyone into taking the action necessary to qualify. We know and understand that its the actions that we each

Editors note: Thank you to everyone who entered the search for EWBs Cape(d) Crusader. As previously mentioned, we had hundreds of replies and are unable to reply to them all personally. However, please let us know how you are continuing with your qualification and we will endeavour to publish your story in a future edition of the newsletter.
