Green Cloud Computing: A New

Solution to Sustainable Energy

ABSTRACT- Network based cloud computing is rapidly expanding as an
alternative to conventional office based computing .As power consumption of
cloud based data centre has huge impact on environments. An increased
attention is being paid to the need to manage energy consumption across the
entire information and communication technology (ICT) sector .There has been
less attention is paid to energy consumption of the transmission and switching
networks that are key to connecting users to the cloud. Analyses of energy
consumption of private and public cloud are presented. Later, in some
circumstance cloud computing can consume more energy than conventional
computing where each user performs all computing on their own personal
computer (PC). Further to bring energy efficiency a virtual machine (VM)
technology has been widely applied to data centre environments. A Green
Cloud architecture is depicted, which aims to reduce data centre power
consumption, while guarantee the performance from user perspective. To
verify the efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture, we take online realtime game, as VM application. Evaluation results show that we can save up
27% of the energy when applying Green Cloud architecture.
