INTRODUCTION
Cloud computing provides the computing power and resources as
a service to users across the globe.

This provision requires huge data centers to be tightly coupled wit

h the system, increasing use of which yield heavy consumption of
energy and huge emissions of CO2.

Since, energy has been a prime concern, this issue generated the i
mportance of Green cloud computing and that provides techniqu
es and algorithm to reduce the energy wastage by incorporation i
t's reuses.
WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING

 Cloud Computing is the use

of hardware and software to

deliver a service over a

network (typically the Internet).

With cloud computing, users can access files and use ap

plications from any device that can access the Internet

. An example of a Cloud Computing provider is Googl

e's Gmail.
TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
It has three types of service
Models.
SaaS -Software as a
Service.
PaaS-Platform as a
Service.
IaaS-Infrastructure as a
Service.
CLOUD DEPLOYMENT MODELS

Types of cloud deployment

models:
a. Public cloud
b. Private cloud
c. Hybrid cloud
d. Community cloud
WHAT IS GREEN COMPUTING
Green computing is the study and practice of environment
ally sustainable computing or IT.

It is also Known as Green IT.

The green computing can be achieved by reducing the ove

rall power consumption.

This can be accomplished by redesigning the infrastructure

of network of servers, switches and cables or by applying t
he different power consumption schemes and pattern.
WHAT IS GREEN CLOUD CO
MPUTING
The concept of Green cloud computing has come after the
addition of the advantage of Green computing with the Clo
ud computing.

The green cloud presents the simulation environment ener

gy aware cloud computing data centers.

Key issues are energy efficiency in computing and promoti

ng environmentally friendly computer technologies .
WHY THINK OF GREEN CLOUD COMPUTING

Cloud computing is providing utility based service to all the users

worldwide.
Data centers created for cloud computing application consume hu
ge amount of energy, contributing toto high operational costs anda
nd large amount of carbon dioxide emissions to the environment.
It leads to an abrupt level of power consumption and increasing th
e amount of harmful gases in environment.
Green cloud computing is not only to save energy but it also reduc
e the operational costs and enrich environment sustainability.
ARCHITECTURE OF GREEN C
LOUD COMPUTING
COND:
1. Consumers/Brokers : Cloud consumers or their brokers submit ser
vice requests from anywhere in the world to the Cloud.
2. Green Resource Allocator : Acts as the interface between the Clou
d infrastructure and consumers.
3.Virtual Machines (VMs) :Multiple VMs can be dynamically started
and stopped on a single physical machine to meet accepted requests,
hence providing maximum flexibility to configure various partitions
of resources on the same physical machine to different specific requir
ements of service requests.
4. Physical Machines: The underlying physical computing servers pr
ovide hardware infrastructure for creating virtualized resources to me
et service demands.
GOALS OF GREEN CLOUD C
OMPUTING
Reduce the use of hazardous material , it causes har
m to environment .
“Green” Data Centers.
Using recycle materials.
Supply Chain Energy Usage.
Product longitivity.
Algorithmic efficiency.
Resource allocation.
GREEN IT IN DEVELOPING R
EGION
Development of ICT.

Moving processor and data closer to the user.

Locating data centers in developing world.

Economic growth.
FUTURE SCOPE OF GREEN CL
OUD COMPUTING
• For enabling green cloud data centers, we will understan
d and analyze the existing data center power and cooling
designs, power consumption by the servers and their coo
ling requirements to achieve maximum efficiency. We will
also require modeling tools to measure the energy usage
of all the components and services of cloud.
• For designing the holistic solutions we will consider such
as number of servers, each type of switches, number of u
sers and total links in a data center to minimize the overa
ll power usage of a data center.
• Our main aim will be improving the efficiency of the equi
pment used in the cloud computing.
ADVANTAGES OF GREEN CL
OUD COMPUTING
CONCLUSION
• Green Cloud Computing is not only a new trend;
it is a technology of itself.
• The move to become more environmentally friendly
is more than just a means to a better corporate imag
e; it is also a means to cost reduction in an ever infla
ting IT budget.
• Lots of research to be carried out for Maximizing Ef
ficiency of Green Data Centers and Developing Reg
ions to benefit the most.
