Main activities of TiGEM can be summarized as production and

Forms located in the Mediterranean coast. Plantations in these

farms are the largest plantations in Turke~.

Pistachio is widel~ cultivated in Southeo stern Anatolia region and. plantations in Ce~lanpinar Form
reaches up to 3,200 hectares. Organic production of pistachio has also started in this form.

Besides fruit production for markets, high 9ualit~ fruit tre e saplings are also produced to cover
the demand of the farmers and to geneticall~ improve and preserve the species and varieties.
PRODUCTION

SEED BUSINESS

The main objective of plant production in TiGEM is the seed


production. The seeds of wheat. barle~. cotton. sunflower. maize.
rice. alfalfa. sainfoin. vetch. chickpeas. red lentils and dr~ beans
are produced in TiGEM. Also contracted production with private
sector companies especiall~ for h~brid sunflower. h~brid maize
production is made. Large and undivided fields of TiGEM makes
it the first choice for h~brid production which reguire wide isola-
tions.

TiGEM holds 35 % of alfalfa and 60 % of sainfoin and vetch


seed market of Turke~ and. 100 % of original and basic cotton
seed and composite maize and sunflower seeds market.

Operating in the seed sector since 1950. TiGEM has an


installed capacit~ of 296 tons/hour seed processing.
Seed processing is carried out to conform to OECD/isT A rules.
TiGEM processes roughl~ 150 to 200 thousand tons of wheat
and barle~ seed annuall~. and. holds ab out 96 % of the certified
cereals seed market.
llVESTOCK ACTIVITIES

Livestock breeding is carried out in 33 farms of total 38 farms TiGEM own. Main t~pes are dair~ cattle

DAIRY CAnlE

Dair~ cattles are raised in 3 1 farms.

Continious studies are carried out to improve te genot~pes of


the existing herds in order to increase the high ~ielding cattle
herd size and to cover the demands of the farmers.

For this purpose. semen of the top bulls in the world are
imported and the cows in our herds are inseminated with these
high genot~pe semen. The best bulls obtained are reserved for
our own semen laborator~. The rest of the bulls are sold to
the farmers af ter some dose of their semen are obtained and
kept for future uses and af ter the~ have completed their
health checks. For these studies. TiGEM operates o semen
laborator~ in Karakö~ form with 50 heads capacit~.

The records of the TiGEM herds are kept in accordance with


Turkish Cattle Breeders Association and TiGEM also takes

part in The National Cattle Herdbook Program.

TiGEM continues it sheep breeding activities in 15 of its farms


and goat production in 1 form.

The roots of the stallions and mares used toda~. date back to those da~s. The core of toda~s
herd have been obtained from the emperors
stables. bought from around Sanliurfa province and
seleded and imported from Iraci. S~ria. Lebanon
and Arab Peninsula during 1932 and 1936.

All the core animals were careful~ seleded to refled the all properties of an Arab
purebred. This core herd contained over
100 female families (Solmaz. Maneki. Mesrure.

Cahide. Talôt. Mahsuse. Sübe~hi. Kirsemsa,
Cilfe, Neame and others) and around
50 different families of stallions. Of these
50 families. Memduh, Ebcer, Aldervis, Kühe~letül

BREEDING

With the application of the most up-to-date studs. Thus, toda~ we have obtained the excellent

BREEDING

Karacabe~ Stud has staded breeding purebred


Arab Horses in 1924. Toda~. their herd comprise
164 mares and 16 stallions. Some of the
champion horses bred in Karacabe~ Stud are;
2 Servet. Çeliker. Gazel. Bahabehir. Tul~ad.
Berkos, Göztepeli. Tuna. Tunca. Hisorhan. Özgün.
Tul~ar. Altaha and Bodrum.
Anadolu (former Çifteler) Stud
started breeding purebred Arab
horses in 19 34. when 4 mares

Cahide. Necmi~e, Zehra and


Hamde from Karacabe~ Stud
moved there. Later in 1937.
48 mares including Mebruke,
Serzetülhavva, Mahide, Sahide,
Gufre, Kemi~etül Irak, Mencule
and Sabika families and 4 stallions;
Kühe~lan Dabi. Alkurus,
Hilatüzzaman and Kurus Satra
have been sent to Çifteler stud.

Çifteler stud have bred the exe elle nt purebred


arabs in the world and made great eontributions
to Turkish Arab Horse breeding and thus ruled
the hippodroms. Same of the most famous horses
bred in Çifteler are; Satvet. Sezgin. Alnasip.
Taskent. Tulrah. Albatur, Özüsan. Arslanbe~,
ii. Umut. Havuçerol. ii. Volga. Bilgehan. Doruhan.
Yozgatli. Sadun. Tulhak. XXX. Rüzgar. ÖnaL.
Yavuzhan. Kan-Can-San, Canberk. Cas. Sorar,
Halid. Odin and Odinhan.
BREEDING

When TiGEM was established in 1984, the name of the stud was changed to
Anadolu. This stud nowoperates with 115 mares and 14 stallions,

Satvet. bred in this form has o ver~ significant role in Turkish horsebreeding, Satvet
started its race life in 1971. It has attended 58 races of which it won fourt~ of
them, lt finished second in nine, third in one and fourth in five, lt was eleded horse
of the ~ear in 1972, 1974 and 1975, and stallion of the ~ear in 1980,
1981,1982,1983, 1985 b~ The Turkish Jocke~ Club, In 2000, it was
eleded for the Purebred Arab of the Millenium b~ The Turkish Race
Horse Breeders and Owners Association, lt finished the Hata~ race
second in 1971, won the Ministr~ of Agriculture cups in 1972 and
1973, and won the Presidential Cups in 1972, 1973, 1974,
