TAWSE AQUIRES DOMAINE MAUME IN GEVREYCHAMBERTIN


Burgundy, France - Moray Tawse announced today the acquisition of Domaine Maume in Gevrey-Chambertin, expanding his family holdings in Burgundy which include Premier Cru vineyards in ChassagneMontrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Beaune. The Maume Family, first the Mariller-Duband family, then the MaumeDuband family, owned vineyards in the region since the second part of the 19th century, and had acquired over 4 hectares of Grand Cru, Premier Cru and Village in some of the most sought after vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. The wines will continue to be made under the label Domaine Maume, and Bertrand Maume will continue on with his winemaking and vineyard duties at the Domaine. Pascal Marchand, partner in the Nuits-Saint-Georges negotiant, Marchand and Tawse, will oversee the Domains winemaking, working closely with Bertrand Maume. Pascal was quoted as saying Working with such great vineyards is very exciting. These are some of the best terroirs in Gevrey-Chambertin. These wines will continue to be available from Domaine Maumes existing distributors. Moray Tawse and his family currently have vineyard holdings in Burgundy, Argentina and Canada. Tawse Winery, located in the Niagara region, is one of Canadas most acclaimed wineries. Tawse was named Canadas Winery of the Year in both 2010 and 2011 at the Canadian Wine Awards. Tawse is a certified organic and biodynamic winery, specializing in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Marchand and Tawse Negotiants make over 35 wines from some of the finest vineyards in Burgundy.
