Instructions for The Numbers Game

1. Pass out sheet 1 (No lines, no arrows) to the group face down and have them keep the sheet face down until instructed to turn them over. Instruct the group that their task, when given the start signal, is to circle as many numbers as possible in sequence on the sheet starting with number 1 until instructed to stop. Using a watch (stop watch preferred), tell the group to turn over their sheet and begin circling numbers in sequence. Time the group for 15 seconds and tell them to stop. On a flip chart, record the highest numbers that each person has circled. It is best to do this by name such that you can write in their highest number for two more trials. Pass out sheet 2 (Lines, but no arrows) to the group face down. Repeat the same test as round 1 giving them 15 seconds to circle as many numbers as possible. Record their highest number circled on the flip chart. Lead a discussion about the results why were some people higher (or lower)? What helped or hurt their performance? Pass out sheet 3 (lines and arrows) and repeat as before giving them 15 seconds to circle as many numbers as possible. Record their highest number circled on the flip chart.
