Have you ever noticed that England and the Dutch have very good explorers? There are 3 explorers that made England and the Netherlands the great exploration countries. They are Henry Hudson, James Cook, and Sir Humphrey Gilbert. Continue and find out more about these three.

Sir Humphrey Gilbert is famous for establishing St. Johns Newfoundland. He made a lot of colonies in North America. His first job was a soldier. He had only one successful voyage and that was in 1583 you dont have to have many voyages to be a great explorer. Sir Humphrey Gilbert, a very good example and a great reason that supports our idea that the English and the Dutch were the best explorer countries.

Henry Hudson, he started exploring at the age of 18. He was one of the youngest explorers of England. When he became the captain of his own ship, he first found the Hudson River on his 2nd voyage. He then found the Hudson Bay and Hudson Strait on his 3rd voyage. He was the first one to ever reach the northern Arctic Circle in his voyages.

The last reason is James Cook. Because he was the first European to set foot on Australia. He also sailed around the Pacific Ocean mapping over 7000km. Did other explorers do that? Not many. He also kept his crew from getting scurvy by taking lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Lastly, when he came back from one of his voyages Spain and England were at war but King Ferdinand let James Cook pass because his voyages were so important. That is the last reason why we think the English and the Dutch were the best explorer country.

Those are the reasons why we think the English and the Dutch were the best explorer countries. Again, James Cook because he explored over 7,000km and mapped it all with very minor mistakes. Henry Hudson because of his explorations around Canada while searching for the northwest passage. As you can see we have very good reasons to believe that the English and the Dutch were the best at exploring. Thank you for listening.
