Indonesia defeated Thailand 3-1 in the group championship with their full team including top singles players Taufik Hidayat, Simon Santoso, Tomi Sugiarto, and Hayom Rumbaka. Indonesia won 4 gold medals in singles, while a Singaporean player won the women's singles gold. The most exciting match was Simon Santoso defeating the Thai player Tonongsak Saensomboonsuk in men's singles. Indonesia swept the finals in men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Malaysia did not win any games as they sent their second-ranked players instead of their full team.

    Badminton is one of the most popular sport in Indoneia. On the 26th Sea Games, Indonesia played wih its fill team including Indonesian best four men single Players : Taufik Hidayat, Simon Santoso, Tomi Sugiarto, and Hayom Rumbaka. In group championship Indonesia defeated Thailand with overall score 3 : 1. In single championship Indonesia obtained 4 gold medals, women single belonged to a Singaporean player by the name FU MING TAIN. The most attractive game was in man single, Indonesian man single, player Simon Santoso against his oppnent Thais Player TONONGSAK SAENSOMBOONSUK All Indonesia final belong to Indonesia in man double, Women double and mixed double. Malaysia none of the game because its players came from the second team. Malaysia didnt come with its full team.
