Gagan Narang won the bronze medal in the world shooting championship in Munich .Thus becoming the first Indian to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games. Indian women won the bronze medal in the inaugural Asian women Champions hockey Tournament at Busan, South Korea.

Australian Mark Webber won the Hungarian grand prix. Gaurav Gill (INDIA) co-driver Glen MC Neal won the forth leg of the Asia pacific rally championship. Soumydeep Roy and Poulomi Ghatak won the men s and women s national table tennis tournament.

Legendary hockey goal keeper Leo Hillary Pinte passed away. He was aged 96 He was the oldest living Olympian. He represented India in 1948 Olympics.
