ITF World Champions for 2019: The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced
that Australia's Ashleigh Barty and Rafael Nadal of Spain have been named 2019 ITF World
Champions. Ashleigh Barty and Rafael Nadal were named International Tennis Federation’s
(ITF) World Champions in singles for 2019.
Barty is the first Australian to be named ITF Women's World Champion having become the
first Australian woman to reach No.1 in the world rankings since Evonne Goolagong Cawley
in 1976. She claimed her first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. She lifted the trophy at the
WTA Finals in Shenzen and led Australia to their first Fed Cup by BNP Paribas final since
1993.

Timea Babos (Hungary) and Kristina Mladenovic (France) in Women Doubles
Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah (Colombia) in Men Doubles
Gustavo Fernandez (Argentina) in Men’s Wheelchair
Diede de Groot (Netherland) in Women’s Wheelchair
Dylan Alcott (Australia) in Quad
This awards will be presented at the 2020 ITF world champions 2nd June, in Paris.
World Women’s Rapid Chess Championship 2019: India's youngest woman Grandmaster Koneru
Humpy has become the 2019 Women's World Rapid Champion. The championship was held in
Moscow, Russia. She defeated China's Lei Tingjie in a Koneru defeated China's Lei Yingjie in the final
playoff match. Humpy lost the first tie-break game and then won the second to reach the
Armageddon game. China’s Lei Tingjie won the silver and Ekaterina Atalik of Turkey won the bronze.
Norway's Magnus Carlsen claimed the men's title. Humpy has become the only second Indian to win
gold after Vishwanathan Anand who won it in 2017.
KIYG: It is the abbreviation of Khelo India Youth Games which was formerly known as
Khelo India School Games (KISG). It is held annually in January or February. It is the
national level multidisciplinary grassroot games in India held for two categories, namely
under-17 years school students and under-21 college students. The first edition of the event
was held in New Delhi and the second edition was held in Pune, Maharashtra.
The third Khelo India Youth Game is to be held between February 10, 2020 and February 22,
2020 in Guwahati, Assam. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the torch
relay of the Third Khelo India Youth Games.
The opening ceremony of the 3rd KIYG will take place at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in
Guwahati on January 10 before the athletes take part in their respective events in full flow.
Chief Executive Officer of the event, Avinash Joshi has announced that lawn bowls and
cycling will also be included in the Khelo India for the first time.
Leo Carter:
He is a left handed batsman from New Zealand. He was part of New Zealand's squad for the
2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In June 2018, he was awarded a contract with
Canterbury for the 2018–19 season.
New Zealand first-class cricketer Leo Carter has become the seventh batsman in the history
of cricket to smash six 6s in an over. He achieved the feat in New Zealand’s domestic T20
tournament Super Smash. Representing Canterbury, he smashed Knight’s bowler Anton
Devcich for six 6s in the 16th over of the innings. Carter achieved the feat in New Zealand's
domestic T20 tournament Super Smash. While playing for Canterbury, he scored 6 sixes
against Northern Knights. He has not only become the 4th batsman to have scored six 6s in
an international T20I but also the first New Zealand's batsman .

4. Assam CM launches torch relay of Khelo India Youth Games
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the torch relay of Third
Khelo India Youth Games. The games will be held in Guwahati from 10th to
22nd of next month.

South Asian Games 2019: India ended its campaign with highest-ever
