Thank you for your letter of 6 March 2012 regarding publication of the report on the Child Poverty Strategy for Scotland, and progress regarding 'poverty proofing' as per your letter of 16 June 2011. As you may now be aware, the Annual Report for the Child Poverty Strategy for Scotland was laid in Parliament on Thursday 22nd March. A copy of the report can also be obtained on the Scottish Government website at http://www.scotland.gov.ukIT opics/People/tackli ngpoverty/Child Poverty. As I mentioned in my letter of 31 July 2011, the Scottish Government had commissioned research on the issue of poverty proofing. That research informed the development of a poverty sensitive budgeting and decision making guide which we have published on the Employability and Tackling Poverty Learning Network internet site. This is available at http://www.employabilityinscotland.com/povertysensitivedecisions.aspx . The Poverty Alliance is also undertaking a scoping exercise into the use of Poverty Sensitive Decision Making on behalf of the Scottish Government. The aim of the exercise is to establish the stage local areas are at in terms of being mgrEL 'QQverty~~nsitive' and strengthening the case for taking poverty into account during the policy cycle and service or budget decision making. I expect the Poverty Alliance to have completed this work and have it available on the Employability and Tackling Poverty website by the 30th April. I hope this reply has been useful to you.
