Do women feel more pain the men? was posted on January 23, 2012.

In a study, adults of many different diseases were asked to rate their pain on a scale from 0 to 11, 0 being no pain at all and 11 being the worst pain imaginable. The study shows that on average, women even with the same disease as a man rates her pain higher than the man would.

We believe that since there has recently been research on this topic, in the future, scientists might be able to dig deeper to discover a drug or new technology that may be able to alter the Limbic system, which is an area of the brain that triggers in females when they feel pain, or the Cognitive region, which is also an area of the brain that triggers for sensations of pain but for males, so there will be no difference in pain levels. A lot of times congnitive, emotional and behavioral factors really influence the level and someones experience with pain, said Dr.Irene Wu, assistant clinical professor of anesthesiology at UCLA Medical Center.

This topic stood out because it was interesting to be able to find out if women really do feel pain differently than men do. If women truly felt pain differently than men , then it would be a catalyst for new innovations and research.

White women over 45 years report most pain Women report 40% more Osteoporosis pain than men One in five women suffer from migraine headaches, compared to one in seventeen men. At least four times more women than men are affected by Fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia- a syndrome characterized by chronic pain in the muscles of soft tissues surrounding joints, fatigue, and tenderness at specific sites in the body. Osteoporosis: a disorder in which bones become increasingly porous, brittle, and subject to fracture, owning to loss of calcium and other mineral components, sometimes resulting in pain, decreased height, and skeletal deformities.

We learned that the possibility of women experiencing more pain than men is indeed an actual possibility. Before we read about this topic, we had no idea
