Allen Govea Unit Analysis Part 2

Strengths of Unit -variety of nature aspects are talked about (animals, natural disasters etc.) -Throughout the unit, they give specific examples of ways that nature could be integrated into different subjects. -lots of resources for focus of unit (worksheets are great) -There is differentiation already done (ELL help too.but there not no ELL students in my class but this is still a strength of unit) -Has independent activities students can do when they are done. (This can be used for Enrichment)

Needs of Learners -students will need many visuals to be engaged - my students love drawing so that needs to be incorporated in some way - writing help for some students -students need opportunities to work in partners

Current Unit Addresses Needs -There is already differentiation possibilities given (These need to be edited a bit to meet all my needs in the classroom) Predictions of stories

Enhanced Unit Addresses Needs -technology needs to be incorporated (smartboard, videos, laptop, projector) -Drawing incorporation -Possible research presentations -One on one opportunities to conference with students about their writing

-Visuals and many books will be used. Pictures of natural disasters also so they know what they actually are -partner and group work will be incorporated
