BS4163 Main points: 9.12, tripping over lose leads 9.12, hot iron tips can cause burns 9.12, hot solder can drip onto skin 9.12, solder fumes can cause respiratory problems

CLEAPSS Main Points: 1.026, the hot bit can cause damage to the mains electrical lead. 1.026, the gas and heat produced from the iron can burn skin.

Common Problems: Doughnuts, rings and bridges when soldering circuit boards. Not replacing the soldering iron in the holder correctly.

PPE: Goggles, but only when doing work that requires your face to be close to the soldering iron.

Common Misconceptions: That solder will melt quickly.

I have used this machine to: Solder components onto a PCB. Solder pieces of stained glass together.
