Pewter Casting

Pewter casting is becoming increasingly common in schools as a way of pupils experiencing working with hot metal, but in a reasonably safe context. Cuttlefish moulds are reasonably common, as are MDF moulds, which lend themselves more readily to CAM designs. Tasks: Design mould on CAD Manufacture using CAD Cut runner to pour pewter into Clamp second piece Pour pewter Leave to cool Cut off sprue Polish product

Enhancements Its difficult to see if the pewter has poured properly are there alternative methods of working? Are there alternatives to the use of CAM and MDF? Are there alternative (safer) ways of working with molten material? Use this method to manufacture a component to be used in another assembly
