10th Edition, Spring 2012

After an unusually cold Winter, marked in February by a heavy snowfall across Italy, Spring has made its triumphant entry in the capital, announced by the delicate colours of trees in full bloom, as well as by the early morning, joyful chirping of birds. This time of the year signals for us that were due for another update of what has been happening recently in our community and at the International Office...
The new year at the Office started with a very specific project - that of clearing the basement of what has been accumulating over these past 12 years and sorting out all the teaching cassettes, videos and files brought over from Allerheiligen. It was a massive job that involved all of us to some degree or another but that Angeline did a great job in organising and overseeing. We have also made some money in the process too through the sales of some objects and pieces of furniture that we no longer use. Meanwhile, we also needed to juggle with the daily running of the office and what seems to be the neverending saga of preparing our annual financial reports of the previous year. Concurrently, we focused on simplifying and bringing more order to the archived material. Additionally, Angeline is working on a computer programme to catalogue our audio and visual teaching resources that we would like to make available online in the future. With only half of the basement now used as storage space, the other half leading to the garden is ready to become a flatlet where Angeline will be staying. Work has already started as were publishing this newsletter. Since the beginning of the year, the International Office staff continued having regular Orientation Meetings. These consist in a once-a-month meeting when Anna, Angeline, Daniela and Monika meet up in the office Board Room for an hour. After prayer, the agenda normally includes announcements, suggestions for a smoother running of the office, discussing upcoming events, and a time of expressing genuine appraisal of our team work or any specific action of a colleague. We started these regular staff meetings last year when we went through the study of a book together called Making Work Values work by J.G. Kliatchko Ph.D. Reading this book has helped us identify and establish our operating values as an International Office. However, not only has the book managed to raise our work values to a higher level, it has also made a strong impact on our personal lives and relationships. As a result, we can safely say we have become a more efficient team...and were having great fun being one too! As for our seminarian brothers Tony and Francis, it will almost be three years since they started their studies in Theology here in Rome. Since then, many changes have taken place in their lives; all the initial questions and doubts have now disappeared as their trust in the Lords care Page

and Providence have become a tangible reality: the amazing location of the Collegio Urbano Seminary and University, the excellent professors and the wonderful experiences with different cultures and peoples are just some of the many personal blessings they have received. They feel that they have been enriched beyond any expectations, and for all this they are very grateful to God. In view of the future beyond their final year in Theology, we have recently had some wonderful news from both of our brothers; Francis has been granted a scholarship for a Licentiate at the same university to specialise in Dogmatic Theology while Tony will be ordained to the diaconate at St. Peters Basilica on 12th May 2012. What a faithful God we serve! On the 3rd of March, Mario and Anna visited their Pontifical Urbaniana College, since they had been invited to speak at the 5th Open Day of the same. The theme of the gathering was In the joy of the Spirit: on the new paths of Evangelisation". One of the highlights of the Open Day was the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelisation. The Open Day was a wonderful opportunity for the Cappellos to meet many of the two ICPE seminarians friends and superiors; this is not to mention a good number of representatives from other communities and congregations involved in the New Evangelisation. A highlight for us this year in Rome will be the hosting of the ICPE International Leaders' Meeting that will convene between 9th and 19th July and the GOGICC European Leaders Meeting from July 13th to 15th. Were working on the administration and the logistics for these events with great anticipation.

We end with a request that you keep us all in prayer as we give our best in service to the Lord through the work that is carried out in and through the International Office. Our prayer for you and us as we enter Holy Week, is that we might receive the grace to fix our gaze on the Crucified One who died and rose again. Nowhere else is the mystery of Gods love and purpose for our lives, for this world, revealed more vividly! With our love and prayers, ICPE Mission Italy and the International Office Staff
