Hypothesis The number of hours a student watches television during weekdays has an effect on their overall math proficiency

exam score. The independent variable in this study is the number or hours a student watches television during weekdays. The dependent variable in this study is the students overall math proficiency exam score. The control variables were the sex of the student who took the math proficiency exam and whether or not they received free lunch at school. Females who watch an excessive amount of television on the weekdays will score higher than males who watch an excessive amount of television on the weekdays. A higher percentage of students who receive free lunch at school will score higher on the math proficiency exam than the students who do not receive free lunch. The values of the independent variable (number of hours students watch TV weekdays) are one, two, three, and eight. The values of the dependent variable (students overall math proficiency exam score) are one, two, three, and eight. The values of the first control variable (students sex) are one, two, and eight and the values for the second control variable (free lunch) are one, two, three, and eight. The less television a student watches during weekdays, the higher their overall math proficiency exam score will be. The more television a student watches during weekdays the lower their overall math proficiency exam score will be. Therefore, a higher percentage of students who watch less television on weekdays will score higher than the students who watch more television on the weekdays.
