Calculate the stress at point A. 3. A curved beam of rectangular cross section has a mean radius of 120mm. The section of the beam is 100 mm deep in radial direction and 75 mm wide. A moment to increase the curvature is applied upon curved beam. If the tensile stress is not to exceed 70 MPa , what is the magnitude of the applied moment ? 4. A thin walled torsion member has the cross sectional dimensions as shown in Fig.3. Determine the torque and unit angle of twist if the maximum shearing stress is 45 MPa. Take modulus of rigidity, G = 30GPa.
