Use the simple past to talk about events that occurred in the past Use it with words like: yesterday, last night, last week, last weekend, two days ago, a couple of days ago, etc. there are three forms: affirmative, negative, and questions
YES/NO questions: DID+Subject+Verb+Complement DID you GO out last night? DID she CALL you this morning? DID your sister TAKE a shower before she went to work? INFORMATION questions: WH+DID+Subject+Complement WHat DID you DO last night? WHere DID my boyfriend GO? HoW DID you GET my phone number?

Remember, you use the verb be with an adjetive (I am HAPPY), a noun (I am A STUDENT, and with places (I am At CEVAZ)
Affirmative I/He/She/It + WAS You/We/They/You + WERE I Was in my house last night and I Was very scared, you know, I am only A Kid. My Parents WERE in their room, They WERE really tired.
