Conclusion Generally, metamorphic rock exhibit particular characteristic such as foliation. Foliation is seen at the rock graphitic schist in our experiment. Foliation is the shortening of rock along an axis during recrystalisation. Colour of metamorphic rock is prevalently shades of black. We could see such as Phyllite and Granite Gneiss exhibits grey and brownish grey respectively. Metamorphic rock also exhibits very small to no spacing at all which is exhibited by all metamorphic rock experimented. Metamorphic rock is almost always massive. Foliated rocks such as Graphitic Schist is produced from regional metamorphism, while Contact metamorphism is the process of formation for other rocks such as Phyllite. Metamorphic rock also exhibits different textures such as Gneissose for Gneiss, Slaty by Phylite, Schistose for Graphitic Schist and Granoblastic by Quartzite.
