EUGENE POLLEY DIES

The inventor of the TV remote control has died at the age of 96. Zenith Electronics said Eugene Polley passed away of natural causes on Sunday. His 1955 invention, Flash-Matic, pointed a beam of light at photo cells on each corner of the TV, turning it off and on and changing the channels.

23 bodies identified
Twenty-three of the 25 people who died in yesterdays rail tragedy at Anantapur have been identified, said Additional Director General of Police (Railways) VSK Kaumudi. The tragedy occurred when the Hampi Express from Hubli to Bangalore rammed into a goods train that was halted on the central tracks. The accident was the result of human error. P3
