7a What is a Computer based Music System? What does it do?

The purpose of this assignment is to: develop your knowledge of the specification and operation of computer systems used for the creation of music. Operating the system safely will form an important part of the process.

Scenario/Vocational Context Computer based music is a large part of the music industry and as a musician, it is important that you are familiar with the set up of individual components and systems. You can achieve great recordings with affordable equipment and software.

Tasks Research the various parts of the music-based computer systems, investigating how they work safely and how they are linked. Your tutor will present you with all the components you need to create a fully functioning music-based computer system but not connected. You will take on the role of a music technology presenter to show case a Musicbased Computer system.

Task 1 Give a demonstration in which you name, describe and explain each of the principal components and give a brief description and explanation of how it works (P1, M1, D1)

Task 2 Demonstrate how to assemble the system. Remember to refer to the health and safety issues (P2, M2, D2)
