BBC Drama Work Experience Opportunities

BBC Drama is looking for talented new faces to join them on a television drama production called The Paradise. The Paradise is loosely based on the Emile Zola novel Au Bonheur Des Dames. It's set in 1870 but has been transposed from its Parisian setting to the North East. The drama centres around MORAY, a self-made entrepreneur who opens one of the first department stores in the country. There is love, intrigue, rivalry, skullduggery and plenty of romance. 8 episodes will be transmitted on BBC1 early in 2013. The production is based on the Lambton Estate, close to Chester Le Street, where Lambton Castle has been transformed into a department store and a long section of Victorian street, containing the shop front, has been constructed. The work experience opportunities are available for Production Runners and also in the Art, Make-Up, Costume and Accounts Departments. Work experience placements will be unpaid for 2 weeks starting in July or August. In some circumstances, there may be the option to extend this to 4 weeks. Previous experience is not essential; however a keen interest in drama is a must! To apply, you need to send your CV and a covering letter explaining why you would like to be involved in the production (300 words max). You also need to let us know which department you are interested in working in. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 4th July 2012 at 10am. If you wish to apply please email clare.proffitt@bbc.co.uk with PARADISE and the name of the DEPARTMENT you would like to be considered for in the subject header.
