YEAR OF FAITH: Pope Benedict XVI declared that a "Year of Faith" will begin on October 11, 2012 and conclude on November 24, 2013. October 11, 2012, the first day of the Year of Faith, is the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of Vatican II and also the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church."The 'door of faith' (Acts14:27) is always open for us, ushering us into the life of communion with God and offering entry into his Church."---Pope Benedict XVI, Apostolic Letter Porta Fidei for the Induction of the Year of Faith. During the Year of Faith, Catholics are asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith. PIETY STALL: The Piety Stall will be open on the first Sunday of each month after the 9.00am and 10.30am Mass. We now have Sunday Missals. They will be on sale this Sunday after the 9.00am and 10.30am Masses. For further enquiries call Ann Burrell 01935 473 663. th DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: Bishop Declan will lead this pilgrimage from the 24 to st 31 August, 2012.This year a Jumbulance will accompany the main pilgrimage to cater for those who have special medical needs. For more information, please see notices. st PARISH OUTING: This will be on Saturday, 21 July to Durlston Castle and Swanage. Transport will be by private cars. We will leave the Marian Hall at 9.00am. Please see the details at the back of the churchand sign in if you are joining us for this little treat! MARIAN HALL BOOKING: should be made through Mr. Alan Cousins Tel: 862552 CHILDRENS LITURGY: Childrens Liturgy will be on Sunday at 9.00am Mass. There are childrens Catholic books to be borrowed during Mass, which are kept in the Lady Chapel. th MENS PRAYER GROUP: will next meet on Friday, 13 July, at 7.30pm, in the Parish entre. THE EPIPHANY GROUP: Meets on the First Friday of each Month at 6.00pm YOUTH - 2000: A five-day youth festival for Catholics aged 14-35 (as well as families) to come rd th and experience God in a new and inspiring way. The event runs from 23 - 27 August 2012. A letter with more details is available at the back of the church. th SENIOR RE GROUP: Please note the next meeting will be on 13 July. APOSTLESHIP OF THE SEA: Sea Sunday is the day when the Catholic Church remembers seafarers and all they do for us as a nation. Seafarers are commonly recruited from poorer countries where wages are lower. Seafarers work in difficult and often dangerous conditions suffering from loneliness, spiritual deprivation and even exploitation as they transport the goods we use and consume every day. CENTRAL HEATING: The engineers are expected to commence work on the refurbishing of the th presbytery central heating on Monday, 9 July. The church heating will be run from the existing boiler, separate from the presbytery, and will be re-piped which should make the system more efficient. The church heating system be renewed in the next phase of work. th RCIA: The next meeting will be on Thursday, 12 July, at 7.30pm in the parish centre. The topic will be Confirmation. All are welcome! CATECHISTS SYMPOSIUM: This year's Catechists Symposium takes place in a couple of week's time at St Joseph's College, Swindon on Saturday 21 July at 10am. The focus of this year's Symposium centres on nurturing and supporting the faith of our Catechists as we journey towards the Year of Faith beginning in October. The keynote speaker for the Symposium is Fr Jimmy McCaffrey OCD, a member of the Carmelite Community based at Boars Hill, near Oxford. Fr Jimmy will speak to us on Prayer in the Gospels. He will lead the morning session of the Symposium and he is always worth listening to. WANTED: We need a wheelchair, in good condition, for the church. This will be of help to those who have difficulty walking, either from the car park or the road. If you can help, please contact one of the priests. th DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO GLASTONBURY: this Sunday, 8 July, beginning with Rosary at 12.30pm in St Marys Church, followed by Holy Hour. The Procession will begin at 2.15pm in the Abbey Grounds and Mass will be celebrated at 3.30pm. Bishop Declan will be the Principal Celebrant.
