Red Wanting Blue plays national TV gig
By ROBERT LINNEHAN
The Moorestown Sun
Almost 16 years after singing
his final song with the
Moorestown High School Madri-
gals, Scott Terry and his band Red
Wanting Blue took the stage for
their first national television per-
formance on the Late Night Show
with David Letterman.
The band capped the Wednes-
day, July 18, show, playing its
highest profile gig to date so far.
The nationally recognized
band was founded in 2000 by
Moorestown Township High
School alum Terry, who graduat-
ed with the class of 1994. He met
his fellow band mates while
studying theater performance at
the University of Ohio.
He hooked up with Eric Hall
Jr., Dean Anshutz, Mark McCul-
lough and Greg Rahm, successful-
ly reforming the band in Colum-
bus after graduating from the
university. Red Wanting Blue
quickly became a successful tour-
ing band, Terry said, performing
150 national shows a year.
Weve averaged about 150
shows a year since 2000. We are a
full-on grass-roots band. Were a
complete do it yourself band. I
wasnt really interested in sign-
ing with a label that wanted to
just own us and all of our record-
ings, he said. I wasnt really

Shire, a global specialty bio-
pharmaceutical company, is
pleased to announce that Olivia
Langerhans, a resident of
Moorestown, is a recipient of a
2012 ADHD Scholarship. Fifty in-
dividuals diagnosed with Atten-
tion-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disor-
der (ADHD) going on to higher
education were selected from
1,437 applicants across the United
States. A graduate of
Moorestown High School who
will be attending Rowan Universi-
ty, Langerhans was selected on
the basis of her community serv-
ice, volunteer and extra-curricu-
lar activities, and response to a
personal essay explaining how
ADHD has impacted her life. The
essays explained the challenges
that the applicant has faced and
how she is managing her ADHD.
The scholarship includes a
$2,000 monetary award and a pre-
paid year of ADHD coaching
services. The Edge Foundation
provides the ADHD coaching
services. The ADHD coaching
services are intended to assist the
recipients with their pursuit of
higher education.
For more information on the
program, please see

We received thousands of ap-
plications from inspiring individ-
uals with ADHD who are pursu-
ing higher education, said
Michael Yasick, senior vice presi-
dent of Shires ADHD business.
Langerhans exemplifies the val-
ues that Shire associates with the
ADHD Scholarship Program
passion, determination and posi-
tive attitudes. Were proud to rec-
ognize and provide her with both
tuition assistance and ADHD
coaching services to help her con-
tinue her educational pursuits.
Included in the ADHD coach-
ing services are weekly sessions
with specially trained ADHD
coaches who are passionate about
their work. The students set
weekly goals and action plans to
meet those goals and have e-mail
and phone support from their
coaches to help keep them on
track. This support may be im-
portant for students in the higher
education environment because
they have more free time and less
adult supervision.
In 2011, Shire introduced the
ADHD Scholarship Program and
awarded 25 scholarships. Due to
the tremendous response, Shire
doubled the number of award re-
cipients to 50 in 2012. The schol-
arship program is part of Shires
patient-centric approach that of-
fers support to patients with
ADHD, their parents, families,
caregivers, and patient advocates.

egans Law was, if anything,
an extremely forward-think-
ing way of ensuring that
convicted sex offenders were easily
identifiable wherever they might live
after spending time locked away. Now,
if one state senator has his way, sex of-
fenders would not only have to register
their residential locations, theyd also
be required to identify themselves as
convicted sex offenders on social-
media websites such as Facebook.
We applaud this bill, and hope it ulti-
mately winds up on the governors
desk to be signed into law.
In addition to having to publicly dis-
close sex-offense convictions, the bill,
sponsored by state Sen. Kip Bateman,
R-Somerset, would also require offend-
ers to list, on their public profiles,
home addresses, where crimes took
place and a self description.
While there will be some who say a
bill such as this one goes too far and
is an invasion of privacy we believe
its for the best.
Far too often, we hear stories of sex-
ual predators who use the Internet to
prey on the vulnerabilities of young
people.
A few years ago, the Dateline NBC
specials To Catch a Predator re-
vealed just how many people used the
Internet to set up what they believed
were trysts with young people.
The penalties for failing to comply
with the proposed law are swift, as
well. A sex offender caught with a pub-
lic profile that doesnt identify a
Megans Law status would carry with
it a potential fine of $10,000 and up to a
year-and-a-half in prison.
A similar law was adopted in
Louisiana recently.
We commend Bateman for propos-
ing this bill. And we hope other states
take notice and enact similar legisla-
tion. There is no doubt that by having a
law such as this one on the books, pred-
ators will think twice about preying
upon the young.
And the children of our state will be
that much safer because of it.

Is the proposed law
too invasive?
A bill proposed by state Sen. Kip
Bateman, R-Somerset, would require
convicted sex offenders to identify
themselves, as such, on social-network-
ing websites. Would such a law be fair?

nancial advisor in Moorestown, is support-
ing a back to school supply donation cam-
paign, by using his office as a drop-off loca-

begin or continue his or her learning and
development.
