Thefirstdayofschoolisnormallyfilledwithhappiness,notarrests. AsubstituteteacheratStoneHillMiddleSchoolinAshburnwaschargedAug.27aftershewas reportedtobeintoxicatedatschool. JacquelineJ.Barnes,50,ofAldiewaschargedwithdrunkinpublic. AccordingtoLizMills,spokeswomanfortheLoudounCountySheriffs Office,aLoudounSheriffsSchoolResourceOfficerwasnotifiedby schoolpersonnelthatateacherhadarrivedatschoolafter9a.m.and appearedtobeintoxicated. TheschoolpersonnelreportedtotheSROthatsubstituteteacherwas possiblyintoxicated,Millssaid.Shedidnthavecontactwithany studentsshewasonherwayintoschoolwhenshecameintocontact withschoolpersonnel. AccordingtoWaydeByard,spokespersonforLoudounCountyPublic Schools,Barneswasasubstituteteachingassistantandtheincident happenedbeforeschoolhadstarted.

Barneswasreleasedonapersonalrecognizancebondandfacesafineof$250andcourtcosts, Millssaid. ThisisntthefirsttimeaLoudounteacherhasbeenchargedwithadrunkinpublic. AfourthgradeteacheratCreightonsCornerElementarySchoolinAshburnwaschargedwith drunkinpublicduringtheschooldayJune1,2011. ALoudounCountySheriffsOfficeSchoolResourceOfficerwascalledtotheschoolshortly before1p.m.afterschoolpersonnelreportedateacherwasbelievedtobeundertheinfluenceof alcohol,accordingtotheSheriffsOffice. PolicesaidthatLauraAnnCollins,43,ofLeesburg,wasundertheinfluenceofalcoholand chargedherwithdrunkinpublic. RadhakrishnanSivaramapillai,46,ofCenterville,waschargedwithadrunkinpublicNov.14, 2011afterbeingreportedbyateacheratJ.MichaelLunsfordMiddleSchool.Hewassuspended withoutpay,thenlaterresigned.
