AROUND THE AREA AT&T 4G LTE now in Oologah

From staff and news service reports

AT&T has turned on its 4G LTE network in Oologah, bringing customers the latest generation of wireless network technology. Providing the new service is the latest in the decades-old partnership between the utility and the Oologah community in bringing the latest in communications technology to Northwest Rogers County. Among the benefits AT&T 4G LTE: Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G. Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before. Cool new devices. AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE smartphones and tablets. more efficiently than other technologies, creating more space to carry data traffic and services and to deliver a better network experience. "This is a great day for Oologah," said State Rep. Marty Quinn. "Today's announcement means we now have access to the fastest wireless technology available. AT&T's investment in Oologah will provide our businesses and our residents with reliable speeds and the latest technology" "We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network in Oologah responds to what customers want from their mobile experiencemore, faster, on the best devices," said Steve Gray, Vice President and General Manager for AT&T Oklahoma and Arkansas.

AT&T's 4G Network
AT&T's innovation and investment has resulted in the nation's largest 4G network, covering more than 285 million people with ultra-fast speeds and a more consistent user experience. That's coverage in 3,000 more 4G cities and towns than Verizon. The AT&T 4G LTE network delivered faster average download speeds than any of our competitors in PCWorld's most recent 13-market

speed tests. AT&T's 4G LTE network delivers speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G, as well as multiple innovations that optimize the network for performance. The network's radio components are placed close to the antenna at most cell sites, instead of inside the base station, which helps minimize power loss between the base station and antenna and, in turn, improves the performance of our 4G LTE network. Even as AT&T continues to expand its 4G LTE coverage in 2012 and 2013, customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas on our 4G HSPA+ network. Users of other smartphone service providers fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage. Over the past five years, AT&T invested more than $115 billion into operations and into acquiring spectrum and other assets that have enhanced its wireless and wired networks. Since 2007, AT&T has invested more capital into the U.S. economy than any other public company. A July 2012 Progressive Policy Institute report ranked AT&T No.1 on its list of U.S. "Investment Heroes."

She said students decided to compete in the most challenging category "We're excited to have our first robotics program;' Campbell said. "We decided to go big or go home." Campbell has obtained $5,000 in grant money from the state. She said an anonymous community member has offered $10,000 in matching funds. Campbell is also working to secure $6,500 from a NASA grant. She said all of the funding is needed to create the most competitive robot possible.

The students will travel to Stillwater Jan. 5 where this year's building project will be unveiled. The team will then have six weeks to build their robot to compete at the regional in April. "We are going to win Rookie of the Year," Campbell said. Board members discussed the results of the new A-F grading system from the state. Oologah received one A and three B's on the report card. "We're pleased with the report cards and we're identifying the areas where we need to improve," Su-

perintendent Rob Armstrong said. Armstrong and the building principals said there are flaws in the way grades are calculated. They said their main concern is what's best for their students regardless of state test results. After an executive session, the board hired Tracy Carter as a gifted and talented teacher and LaReesa Moore as middle school secretary. The board approved meeting dates for 2013 and a lease agreement with the Oologah Quarterback Club to use the golf cart.
