Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am writing to inform you of an upcoming event in order to fundraise for our not too distant game against Reading Rocs Quidditch Club. Due to our status as a community team, we cannot receive funding from schools or other institutions and therefore all of our funding comes from the hard work of our players and volunteers. The funding raised from this event will go directly towards maintaining old and purchasing new equipment; and depending on the amount raised, may go towards our kits for the season. Our first fundraiser of the season will take place in the form of an Escape and Evade style event. The event will take place over the 4th, 5th and 6th of December, with more details to follow. Participants will be placed into teams of three or four, and have 56 hours to get as far away from Derby Cathedral as they can, on the condition that they spend absolutely no money in doing so. The sky is the limit; participants can cycle, sail, bike, fly, run, as long as it costs them nothing. We will be restricting participants to travel purely within the UK to ensure safety; as in the past teams from universities have travelled as far as South Africa, Gran Canaria, and Trinidad and Tobago. Teams of participants will be keeping in touch with the fundraiser co-ordinator (thats me!) on an hourly basis via text message. These messages can be forwarded onto you if you wish, or you can keep in touch with your child directly. If you feel you have any concerns, you are welcome to email me or phone me on the contacts at the bottom of this letter. Attached is a consent form that must be signed by all participants to ensure all are aware of the potential risks of the fundraiser.
