María prefers vanilla ice cream. She doesn’t like chocolate at all. She always wants to
go swimming. Her favorite color is blue.

Adán’s Trip
Adán lives in the United States with his mother and father. This is a story about his trip
to Puerto Rico to visit his family.

They drove up the mountain. On the way, they saw a river. “Look!” said Uncle José.
“Your father and I played in that river when we were children.”

Finally, they arrived at a brightly colored house. Many people were outside.

Everyone stood around the car.

“This is your family, Adán,” said Uncle José.

“Are all these people in my family?” asked Adán. He could not believe it.

Uncle José’s wife Carmen hugged Adán and kissed both his cheeks. Aunt Carmen
never smiled, but her eyes did.

The whole family ate lunch together under the oak trees. They had a great time
together.
