Plan, budget and manage all day-to-day editorial operations for the Chelsea Standard and Dexter Leader, two weekly newspapers. Supervise a reporter and five freelancers, which includes assigning stories, editing copy and mentoring as needed. Serve as page administrator of the newspapers Facebook and Twitter accounts. Design and layout about 15 pages during weekly production cycle. Write engaging headlines, cutlines and decks. Develop enterprise stories with a team of reporters and work together to create story packages. Fill in on reporting and photography.

Led a team of reporters and wrote several stories covering a tornado that hit Dexter, Mich. to receive first place in Spot News for Class A Weekly and Best Multimedia Presentation, competing against all newspaper classes, in the 2012 Michigan Press Assocation awards. Co-wrote the second half of a series on preserving rural downtowns for second place for News Enterprise Reporting, Class A Weekly in 2012 MPA. Designed and oversaw print layout to win third place in Design and General Excellence for Class A Weekly in 2012 MPA awards.

Wrote three stories daily concerning education, crime and government. Responsible for the news and sports editors work twice weekly. Proofread pages and copy edited for two reporters. Designed, laid out three pages during evening shifts.
