Citizens Hearing Decries Gas Drilling Re-Vote


Maddened by lack of testimony on gas drilling and refinery proposal near school and soccer fields, community groups lead own public hearing
WHAT: Citizen-run public hearing on do-over vote to reconsider failed gas drilling applications on city-owned parkland in northwest Dallas WHO: Eloy Treveno, Dallas Homeowners League Jan Schobert, North Dallas Neighborhood Alliance Phil Leven, Old Oak Cliff Conservation League Claudia Meyer, Mountain Creek Neighborhood Alliance Cherelle Blazer, Dallas Gas Drilling Task Force member Susybelle Gosslee, Dallas League of Women Voters Zac Trahan, Texas Campaign for the Environment Molly Rooke, Dallas Sierra Club Raymond Crawford, Dallas Area Residents for Responsible Drilling Jim Schermbeck, Downwinders at Risk Dozens of other concerned Dallas residents WHERE: Dallas City Hall, Flag Room 1500 Marilla, 6th Floor WHEN: Thursday, January 10th, 1:00 p.m. WHY: Incredulous that a second reconsideration vote was called on previously denied applications to drill for gas near a school and build a gas processing facility near a soccer field complex, neighborhood, environmental and civic groups held their own citizens hearing outside Dallas City Council chambers today. The City Plan Commission is refusing to hear public testimony during this re-vote, but that wont stop residents from having their say. ###
