Reasons for Admission

Mother has been in the city hospital and neighbors and grandmother have helped care for the two
children. Baby in now in City Hospital and Mother came out of hospital Yesterday but can not care for
this child because she is sarcastic and naughty. The mother as yet has been far from strong-hope she will
be strong enough to have the child return home is two weeks.
Aug.15,1923-Father came and took Edith home. Childs mother is better but far from strong, she thinks
she will be able to get along with the help of a woman-neighbor-who is coming in every day for a week or
two. The baby is home from the Hospital and is much better.
Man paid two dollars for Ediths board and said he would come next week and pay another dollar. He
seems very grateful for all that had been done for Edith.
Dec. 7, 1926-Mrs. G.K. Smith of the Associated Charities telephoned to make arrangements for Edith
and Arthur to be cared for in the Home as their mother is in Cithy Hosp.
We called up Miss Flemming, Social Worker at City Hospital, to find out what she thinks of Mrs.
Besse. Miss Flemming doesn’t have a very good opinion of woman; says she is in the Hospital because
of nervous trouble, has had all kinds of tests made but can find nothing the matter with her excpet mental
instability, and doctors can’t have her commited to State Hospital as she answers all questions
intelligently. Miss Flemmin thinks Mrs. Besse is lazy.
Dec. 12, 1926-Mr.Besse came and took his children home as his wife has left the Hospital.
July 5, 1928- Miss O’Leary, one of the District Nurses, made arrangements for Edith and Arthur to be
cared for in the Home while their mother is in City Hospital. Mr. Besse is not living with his familt and
Mrs. Besse has had intestinal grippe which left her in a run down condition and doctor advised Hospital
treatment.
July 11, 1928-Mrs. Besse left the Hospital today and she sent a neighbors boy for Edith and Arthur.
