S2
Transition matrix and associated vital rates of Lantana camara at each of the four sites surveyed. In the population projections, the
fecundity values were adjusted by mean proportions of plants in reproductive activity. These proportions for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 periods are:
0.38, 0.82 (0.91), 0.57 (0.90) and 0.55 (0.75) for populations at the hoop pine plantation, farm, grazed and burned forests respectively.
The seed to seedling transition estimates (which are first quartile values of glass house trials) have also been adjusted to reflect expected range in the field

S3
:Stage-specific multipliers for calculation of transition rates when populations are burnt.
This matrix is derived from observed mean performance at the burned forest relative to the mean
performance at the grazed forest and the farm sites where no burning was applied.
Including Lantana camara performance at the hoop pine plantation in estimation of stage specific
multiplier did not change model outputs significantly, but was excluded anyway because the data
at this site reflect an expanding/recolonization rather than an established population
