TeamLuby Update Week of May 13, 2013 Spring Street School Mrs.

Lubys class

We have a very busy week with Math MCAS on Tuesday and Wednesday. Remember to make sure your child has a good breakfast before coming to school ontime. Water bottles, sugarless gum (or hard candy) should be brought in as needed. We could still use some small water bottles for the class. The MCAS schedule also changes our specials we will have MUSIC on Thursday and Physical Education on Friday along with our usually specials those days. We are also excited to have the SHS Chemistry Club on Thursday afternoon presenting and interacting with the fourth graders. This has been a wonderful program in the past few years! Our SELCO field trip is Friday morning with Mrs. Mancini, Mrs. Coghlin, Mrs. Comacho, and Mrs. Benglian joining

Around MCAS we will complete the Uniform Debate opinion pieces. We will also look at the value of a penny!

Math We will complete Unit 11 with more volume (not sound, but 3-D!), negative and positive integers, and capacity!

Social Studies We will continue with our informational text drafts and final copies. What does a second grade student need to know about the West Region? Our groups wil determine that! States and capitals Quiz is on Friday, May 17. Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto This week we will be putting together what we have learned about magnets and electricity. The students will be making electromagnets in class, which are magnets that are able to be turned on and off using electricity.
